Binge Watchers #1: The Things I'm Watching

Binge Watchers is a very fun meme hosted by Michelle from Because Reading is Better Than Real Life and Stormi from Books, Movies, Reviews, Oh My! This meme is perfect for anyone who loves to binge watch ALL the things, and honestly, who doesn't? Lol. You can talk about what you've watched, what you're currently watching, and even what's on your watchlist! Anything and everything goes, basically! There is no specific format you have to follow and this meme only happens every other week! For more info you can go here!

I initially saw this meme over on Angie's blog, Pinkindle, and I absolutely loved the premise! I already talked about the things I've recently been watching on my Sunday Posts, but this will allow me to go more in depth! Yay! Plus, I'm always binge watching one thing or another. So for this first post, I think I'm just going to talk about the things I've been watching the last week or two. First up...

Review: The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase (The Librarians #2) by Greg Cox

The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase (The Librarians, #2)

Synopsis:

For millennia, the Librarians have secretly protected the world by keeping watch over dangerous magical relics. Cataloging and safeguarding everything from Excalibur to Pandora’s Box, they stand between humanity and those who would use the relics for evil.

Stories can be powerful. In 1719, Elizabeth Goose of Boston Massachusetts published a collection of rhyming spells as a children's book, creating a spellbook of terrifying power. The Librarian of that age managed to dispose of all copies of the book except one, which remained in the possession of Elizabeth Goose and her family, temporarily averting any potential disaster.

However, strange things are happening, A window washer in San Diego who was blown off his elevated perch by a freak gust of wind, but miraculously survived by landing on a canopy over the building entrance. A woman in rural Pennsylvania who was attacked by mutant rodents without any eyes. And, a college professor in England who somehow found herself trapped inside a prize pumpkin at a local farmer’s market. Baird and her team of Librarians suspect that the magic of Mother Goose is again loose in the world, and with Fynn Carson AWOL once again, it is up to Cassandra, Ezekiel, and Stone to track down the missing spellbook before the true power of the rhymes can be unleashed.

My rating: ★★★★☆

The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase starts off with a bit of Greek mythology—how cool is that?! Well, it’s cool for me because I just love mythology! We got a glance at the infamous Calydonian Boar which was initially defeated by the amazing Atalanta way back when. And now Eve and the new Librarians have to figure out how to put it down once more. I really enjoyed this! It was very action-y! There was also a bit more mythology later on in the book, which, again, I very much enjoyed. You know I’m a sucker for it ;)

Synopsis:

The Librarians is one of the biggest new hits on cable. Spinning off from a popular series of TV-movies, the TNT series begins its second season this Fall. The Librarians and the Lost Lamp is the first in a series of thrilling all-new adventures that will delight fans of the TV series and movies.

For millennia, the Librarians have secretly protected the world by keeping watch over dangerous magical relics. Cataloging and safeguarding everything from Excalibur to Pandora’s Box, they stand between humanity and those who would use the relics for evil.

Ten years ago, Flynn Carson was the only living Librarian. When the ancient criminal organization known as the Forty steals the oldest known copy of The Arabian Nights by Scheherazade, Flynn is called in to investigate. Fearing that the Forty is after Aladdin's fabled Lamp, Flynn must race to find it before the Lamp's powerful and malevolent djinn is unleashed upon the world.

Today, a new team of inexperienced Librarians, along with Eve Baird, their tough-as-nails Guardian, is investigating an uncanny mystery in Las Vegas when the quest for the Lamp begins anew . . . and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

My rating: ★★★★☆

The Librarians and the Lost Lamp starts off with Flynn, The Librarian, going after the real Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde formula, which is totally insane, but totally cool at the same time! It's awesome!

Even though I really loved this and thought it was a lot of fun, there really was no point to starting off with this. You could’ve just gotten straight into the story. This just left me wanting the whole story, lol. Anyway, after this adventure, Flynn gets back to the library only to have another mission waiting for him—the search for Aladdin’s Lamp! Oh my gods! It’s real?! Seriously? Oh my gods!

Suddenly all of her friends are involved, prisoners in a conspiracy of silence, trying to conceal the terrible truth. But someone saw what Della did. And he's threatening them all, forcing them back to Fear Island to find the evidence they forgot to bury...

My rating: ★★★★☆

The Overnight mostly takes place on Fear Island, which is on a lake on Fear Street, somewhere behind the burned down Fear Mansion. And let me tell you, I loved this setting! It was a lot of fun! I mean, not for the characters, but it was for me! :D

The South Channel lighthouse is a crumbling antique at the mouth of the Savannah River, abandoned and forgotten for generations. Local stories still tell of a mysterious woman in white who often stood at the old lighthouse, watching the sailors come into port...even long after she died.

Now the property by the lighthouse is owned by a famous movie star in search of a remote beach getaway on sleepy Tybee Island. Unfortunately, old ghosts haunt her new retreat, stirred up by the construction of a luxurious new mansion. Ellie, Stacey, and their team must remove the ghosts, who grow more dangerous and aggressive every night, threatening the lives of the client and her family and personal staff.

The lighthouse has a dark history, with many ghosts, and mysteries to unravel before Ellie can send them on to the other side.

My rating: ★★★★☆

In this installment of the series, Ellie and the team have taken a case at a lighthouse. A huge movie star just moved in after having built a mansion on the property, and things started to go bump in the night. Aside from the case, Ellie is still looking for Anton after what he did to Michael, and there is also a creepy magician ghost stalking a theater that Ellie, Stacey, and Jacob are looking to take care of.

At the same time, Ellie and Stacey are called in to investigate an eerie entity haunting a baby's nursery room. The ghost appears late at night, its face barely visible on the baby monitor, and sings a chilling song.

Soon, Ellie learns there are more ghosts in the house, and at least one of them is a dangerous, child-hunting monster who must be stopped before it kills again.

My rating: ★★★★★

Lullaby starts off immediately after the events of the previous book, Maze of Souls, with Michael hurt and in the hospital. This after their run-in with Anton, the pyromaniac ghost that killed Ellie’s family. But not only is Ellie dealing with this awful tragedy, she is also dealing with her new bosses, Paranormal Solutions Inc. They are now moving in after Calvin sold his company to them. It’s very upsetting, especially because their methods are shady as f*ck. They capture ghosts then they either experiment on them or try to tame them! Just... so much NO! What is wrong with them?! Synopsis:

Invitation to Terror

The invitation arrived in a black-bordered envelope. Inside, the card showed a coffin with the inscription “Reserved For You.” It was perfectly fitting for an all-night Halloween party on Fear Street. But Terry and his girlfriend Niki wondered why they had been invited. They barely knew Justine Cameron, the beautiful and mysterious transfer student who was throwing the party.

The party was well under way when the lights went out. That’s to be expected at a spooky Halloween party. But when the lights come back on, there was that boy on the floor with the knife in his back. Just a Halloween prank? Maybe. Maybe not.

For Terry and Niki the trick-or-treating has turned to terror. To their horror, they realize that someone at the costume party is dressed to kill!

My rating: ★★★★☆

There is going to be an uninvited guest at this Halloween party on Fear Street...

A select few of kids are invited to the new girl’s Halloween party. They don’t know why they were selected in particular—this group of kids aren’t friends, they don’t even run in the same circles in school! But hey, it’s a party and they all don’t complain too much... until there’s a murder at the party. This is not what they had in mind when they came to the party. A party where no one had any idea why they, in particular, were chosen to attend. But I definitely had an idea. That particular plot twist did not surprise me once the reveal came. To be fair, I think I may have read this book this for back in middle school, but I don’t actually remember.

For the first time since the original series, R.L. Stine brings back his most beloved characters—the cheerleaders of Shadyside High.

The cheerleading squad at Shadyside has always been strong, but now there are rumors that lack of funds may mean the end of cheerleading at Shadyside. That would be a shame for Heather Wyatt, who has just transferred from her old school, where she was a star, and is eager to join the squad. There’s only one other girl who stands in her way—rich, spoiled Devra Dalby, who is also trying out for the one open slot. The competition to join the squad is anything but friendly—and it ends in murder. Will Heather make the squad—if there's even a squad anymore—or will she end up dead?

Packed with screams and guaranteed to send a shiver up your spine, this is a terrifying installment in Stine's bestselling Fear Street series.
