Synopsis:

Shy Adelle Hansen hears demons, but she’s determined to make friends at her new high school by keeping her ability secret.

When she overhears supernatural voices celebrating the impending death of the school quarterback, Levi Anderson, she knows she has to do something to prevent it. However, the demons aren’t the ones plotting; they’re just celebrating the chaos, and Adelle must contend with earthly forces as well if she wants to preserve Levi’s life.

Handsome, popular Levi doesn't appreciate Adelle’s self-appointed role of guardian angel. As Adelle battles to keep him safe, she’ll have to protect her heart, too. Can she do both?

My rating: ★★★★★

I loved, loved, LOVED this book! Janette Rallison is definitely one of my favorite authors! She is just amazing!

if you don't know now you know

The Girl Who Heard Demons actually had a bit of a darker undertone than her other books, but that’s definitely not a bad thing ‘cause it was amazing! Despite these darker undertones, Janette still managed to add humor and make this book fun. It was the perfect blend of creepy demons and funny moments!

As the title suggests, Adelle hears demons. Pretty awesome power, right?

Wrong! Can you imagine how horrifying it would be to constantly hear these awful things, from demons?

Yeah, no thanks! I don’t know how Adelle does it, honestly.

The demons came again during the night. I was sleeping alone in my aunt’s house, and their swishing whispers woke me. At first I thought someone had broken in, that I was going to be robbed—murdered, maybe. But then I realized it was just evil spirits and relaxed. –Adelle

Luckily, her power doesn’t extend to seeing them, only hearing them. Speaking of which, I really loved the paranormal element this book had—Adelle’s ability and how she got it was very interesting. And also the reason why the demons are out to get Levi... holy crap! That was an insane plot twist! So glad Adelle was there to find out why and to save him from all this craziness.

And the romance... I always love the romances that Janette writes! They are always so sweet and adorable and I just loved Levi in this book! *swoon* I loved the relationship between Adelle and Levi and how Levi was basically a skeptic when it came to Adelle’s ability. Also, hurray for no instalove! :D

People had a hard time believing things beyond their own experience. –Adelle

The Girl Who Heard Demons was a very intense, suspenseful story with a bit of fun thrown in for good measure. There were many shocking twists and turns, and the climax was insane (but in a good way!) I will warn you though, I think I actually cried.

This is the first time Janette Rallison has made me cry, but trust me, the payoff is worth it! There was just so much to love in this book! I loved the dual 1st person POV—we got both Adelle and Levi’s POV! The writing was amazing, it had crazy plot twists, lovable characters, and an awesome paranormal aspect to it—so much yes! I honestly cannot recommend this enough!
